About the Artist
Sheryl Roach, Award- Winning Artist
Capturing The Light
As an Award-Winning painter, Sheryl is best known for her impressionistic style paintings that capture the affects of sunlight in nature, especially island life, boats and seascapes, rural landscapes, gardens and city-scapes. Having grown up with a love of art in Wisconsin, She went on to study Art & Design at Drake University, Studio Arts Center International (SACCI) in Florence, Italy, and graduated from The University of Florida with a Bachelor of Design degree, with Honors.
Sheryl has lived in Jacksonville, Florida on and off for almost 40 years. Most of that time, Sheryl owned SKR Advertising & Design, and helped corporations succeed through advertising and graphic design. As a designer, Sheryl often incorporated drawing and illustration into communication solutions whenever possible. She and her husband Charlie also owned and operated a Marina and Restaurant for a decade in Port Orange, FL.
All the while, Sheryl enjoyed creating art and painting "en plein-air" (outdoors) and in the studio. She works primarily in oil, but enjoys watercolor, gouache, and acrylics. Her subjects are mostly landscapes in areas that inspire her, such as her second home on Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas, the area of North Florida, and on travels throughout the world.
As an award-winning artist, some of Sheryl’s accolades include:
2017 - Flagler Beach Plein Air Week, 3rd Place Award for “Washington Roses"
2023 - Clay County Courthouse “Ship To Shore” Exhibit, 2nd Place Award for “Work Boats”
2024 - St. Augustine Plein Air Pop-Up Exhibit, Best In Show for “Shady Lane”
